THE OLD JOURNAL…
How did I find the perfect bullet journal? Eek! This is such a personal question! This red journal on top is one I used for notes in the beginning, the quote is awesome, and I love the picture! I used this journal to jot down notes, and tasks before I found bullet journals.
I love these Kate Spade New York Journals because they have six ribbon bookmarks so I could keep track of a lot of different “subjects” at the same time. These are some of the colors and quotes you can find on the front: “You Can Never Be Overdressed or Overeducated” in red, “Escape the Ordinary” in light pink, “Eat Cake for Breakfast in hot pink with multi-color ribbon bookmarks and “A Likely Story” in yellow . I have a quite a few of these on hand, because I still like using them for various things.
These are some of the journals I use for so many different things:
- both plain notebooks and “fancy” ones.
- ones that have lined notebook paper, graph paper, and dots.
- I have also used (and still do for certain things) Notability on my phone, iPad and laptop (I can pick different color fonts in there too!)
The bottom line is there is no perfect journal for everything you want to track, however you can find something that will be perfect for you. I would highly recommend experimenting with different paper quality, and formats of inside pages (lines, dots, graph or blank sheet). I have started out using one type of journal for something and deciding it worked better for something else I was working on. Be flexible, and remember the perfect bullet journal today, might be different than what would be perfect in the future!
THE ORIGINAL BULLET JOURNAL…
This is my first perfect Bullet Journal. I love the Leuchtturm 1917 Notebook A5 with dotted paper. It comes in berry, black, gray, emerald, royal blue, navy blue, and azure/lime. I can’t believe I filled up all those pages from March – September! The problem I have found is that I want to have a long-term “planner” with things like future planning, yearly goals, websites, books to read, and other things to keep track of in a separate journal. So, I now have my monthly/weekly/daily planning in a separate journal. I still use the Leuchtturm 1917 for other things, like my fitness/workout journal, and a blogging journal.
THE PERFECT BULLET JOURNAL (for right now)…
I discovered this solution from Jessica Chung in her video of “How I Bullet Journal In a Travelers Notebook.” So now I am just switching over to a Traveler’s Notebook by Foxy Fix (Size No. 6) and the notebook inserts are by May Designs in a classic design. You can see there are four May notebooks in the Foxy Fix notebook. One is for my monthly/weekly/daily calendar, one is for 2017 for long-term planning. Another is for my business, and the fourth is four brain storming. This is system seams more flexible to me, and I’m excited to have a more permanent component to my planner.
I can’t say enough about my obsession with May Designs notebooks. They really are my perfect bullet journal. I love the choices of designs, and they come out with new ones all the time! I’m hunting down the postman now for my Christmas themed notebooks! In fact, they are sponsoring my first giveaway this week!
