I have recently been sneaking in my strength training workouts without even having enough time to talk myself out of it! While browsing on Pinterest, I found all sorts of 5, 10, 15 minute exercises. I have fallen in love with them. So, I became curious about how doing several little workouts during the day effects my body. I found this article at Livestrong which says, “Whether you aim for multiple 10-minute sessions or a couple 30-minute workout sessions throughout the day. You can benefit from every moment of exercise.”
I have noticed small results already! I try to do them in the morning, midday and in the evening. Personally, I don’t like working out right before bed, but I can do something while watching television at night. It also motivates my husband to join me. There are so many workouts on Pinterest! I created a “Fitness” board containing leg workouts, ab workouts, arm workouts, cardio workouts and HIIT workouts. It makes it easy just to pull up the board and see which one I’m in the mood for. There are so many that are “no gym workouts” that you can do anywhere!
Here are just a few of the workouts I have been doing:
Movement is so important for women, because being sedentary has been linked to increased inflammation. We have heard that working out is a good stress, but that’s not necessarily true in all cases. If this is a stressful time in your life, it’s better that you stay away from high-intensity workouts for long duration. A better workout would be a more moderate workout whether it’s one of the workouts above or going for an hour bike ride.
Now just starting out, you may not be able to do all of the reps or sets, but that’s okay. The more often you do it the more you will be able to do, and the more healthy you are becoming. In the end, your body keeps track of what you have done throughout the day, and not necessarily if you did it all at once.
