Fair warning: I do not use a lot of embellishments, because I really like to get my colors from pens and pencils. With that said, washi tape is a staple for my monthly layout, because I like the way it looks and I can turn directly to that particular month. I don’t use stickers that much, because I haven’t found what I’m looking for in the size I want. However, I have used stickers and highlighters to draw attention to important things to remember in the past, and I really like them, but it can get too cluttered for me.

Washi Tape (my go to embellishment)
This is how the washi tape looks like on the edge of my monthly pages in my Leuchtturm1917:
Here are some embellishments that others use:
- Jessica at http://www.prettyprintsandpaper.com uses clear stamps from Foxy Fix. It’s great for doing quick pages, and you can “color” the banner and place it anywhere on the page. They offer other clear stamps as well.
Shelly Abrahamsen at Little Coffee Fox has some great stickers in her Etsy Shop too. These could be fun to use because they can add a different font and more color to your pages. She has a lot of other stickers available as well.
Kimberly Job from Sublime Reflections uses Post-it notes for her meal planning. This makes this layout reusable every week, and you can keep a “bank” of recipes. I think this is a smart way to do it because it saves so much time-plus it adds more color to your page!
Laura with Paper and Pen demonstrates how to make flag paper clips. I love this idea, and it’s so cute!
There are so many more embellishments out there on Pinterest – these are just a few. I am a minimalist, so if you want to put more things in you bujo, please do! Make it your own, and have it reflect your personality. Remember, the more fun you have with it the more you will use it! This is overall an inexpensive way to start to keep track of your life, but you can go a little crazy too – trust me! The most important thing is just to start; it doesn’t matter if it’s November, March or August. I promise it’s the best thing you can do!
