I hope everyone is having a great summer. Here in Colorado, we are getting ready for school, our area schools start on August 16th. My son (the “baby”) is starting his senior year this year, and boy have I stepped up the volunteering at school! It is after all my last year! So in working on my August bullet journal layout, I’m in the spirit of “Back to School”. This may be a better layout for September for those of you on the east coast.
I had a lot of fun with my August bullet journal layout. As usual, I go straight to the internet and this month Googled “August” and “Back To School” to find the images that grab me. The backpack was a way to challenge myself a little, and yes, I did use a pencil and erased a lot, so don’t be afraid to try it! The chalkboard was fun as well. It gives it that old school look. I couldn’t bring myself to draw a smart board like they use in the classroom today. The Sakura Jelly Roll white pen with a white colored pencil gives it a “chalk” look. I know they sell chalk pens, but I thought this looked pretty good!
The left side of my August Bullet Journal layout is for morning appointments. Half of the right side is used for afternoon and evening appointments. The smaller column is for travel, or all day appointments. I have our initials at the top for our respective columns, and we each have our own color. My husband travels for work, and we travel about once a month, plus college touring is coming our way as well. The last column is for notes. This is where I put birthdays (in pink), anniversaries (in silver) and whatever notes I might have for the month.
Also, I wanted to share with you my cover page. Since I started a new journal this month I always am on the lookout for quotes for these pages.
This is normally a new year’s quote, but I also feel this time of year is really when my calendar year really starts. Probably because of the kids school year, but it’s a great way to “start fresh” when there isn’t so much chaos in my life.
Finally, I hope this gives you some inspiration for this month, and there’s always time to be creatively productive! Whatever it is that you love, you can always find time to do it!
